Killtown Death Fest

Thank you!

Wow what a weekend! Kill-Town Death Fest has truly been resurrected! We are so humbled by all the support we have been getting from everyone attending! Thanks for all the compliments, the feedback and for being part of making this weekend so fucking amazing! The KTDF crew would like to express our outmost gratitude to all the bands that came and played and made this weekend as special as it was! Thanks for some historical moments! Also we cannot express how much we appreciate all the help we have been getting from volunteers from across the globe that dedicated part of their weekend to making sure the wheels of the Kill-Town machine kept turning throughout the weekend. Even greater thanks goes out to our amazing teams that took care of the catering, bandcare, the backstage hospitality, the shuttle service, the info & merch point, backliners and sound & light – without your relentless efforts this weekend would not have been possible. Last but not least we have to thank the staff and management of Pumpehuset for being such a great partner and for trusting us in doing this at their amazing venue!

A lot of people have been asking about next year… At this point we cant reveal much other than you will hear from us – thats for sure. Until then we will leave you with a shot of Necros Christos performing the main stage Saturday night courtesy of Bjarke Ahlstrand of One of many Cameras

Day 1 down – day 2 about to start!

Day 1 was a blast and a great success! Now we are getting ready to open the doors for Day 2! ByHaven opens at 12.00/12PM with some sonic ear torment from the DJ collective Metal Maniacs – bars and food trucks will be open too. At 13.00/1PM we open the doors for VIRUS BIO showing WITCHFINDER GENERAL inside in the venue at the ground floor (Black Stage). At 15.30/3.30PM we have the first of our ByHaven shows with GALVANIZER (fin) followed by TAPHOS (dk) at 17.00/5PM. The shows in ByHaven and the movie screening are free, so drop by and have a pint and a burger. Doors to the shows inside open at 17.00/5PM. See you soon!

Mortem cancellation…

Its with heavy hearts that we have to inform you that MORTEM wont make it to KTDF. Here is the statement from the band:
“Mortem regrets to announce that we will not be performing at the Kill-Town Death Fest because of the requirement of transit visas that some members learned about only while checking-in at the airport. In consequence, the line-up was severely compromised, making it impossible for us to perform live. We extend the promoters and the maniacs attending the Fest our deepest apologies for this unfortunate outcome, since we were looking forward to playing in Europe again after 14 years”.
At this point we wont be able to find a suitable replacement. We are so sorry for this, but this situation is completely out of our hands.
On the bright side there is less than 24 hours until everything kicks off! Doors and early check in from 15.00. Go to the Info Point and get your wristband and program early, so you dont have to wait in line. See you all tomorrow!

KTDF presents VIRUS Cinema!

Again this year we will have the honor of hosting VIRUS Cinema during KTDF. Friday and Saturday afternoon you will be able to kick back and watch some cult classics handpicked by Jens Franco to mess up your minds.

KTDF and VIRUS BIO proudly present 2 psychotronic wonders from around the world:

Witchfinder General. 1968. Michael Reeves. 86 min.
The Beyond. 1981. Lucio Fulci. 88 min.

We have added Jens Franco´s selections to a new section on this website where you can read more about the films and check out what you´ve got coming for you.

Jens Franco aka Krigsguden. Virus Cinema boss, Devilution and Passive/Aggressive writer, author of ‘Kitsch, Camp & John Waters’, radio DJ and singer of Tumor Warlord & Smitstof.

Witchfinder General. 1968. Michael Reeves. 86 min.
Friday 07.09.208 13.00/1pm in the Black Stage Room (ground floor Pumpehuset). No admission. No seating.
Vincent Price is probably the greatest horror star who ever lived and for half a century he scared the living daylights out of audiences around the world, mostly with his unique campy and playful tongue-in-cheek approach to the macabre. “Witchfinder General” is not that kind of movie, in fact this british über-cult classic might be Price’s most evil and sinister role of his distinguished career as the ruthless witchfinder Matthew Hopkins, a 17th-century English lawyer obsessed with sorcery, witchcraft and those he’s convinced are practitioners of the occult. This immortal gem is a pretty graphic, intense, sadistic and violent horror feature for 1968 and had serious censorship problems back in the day. This is of course the uncut version that VIRUS BIO and KTDF is screening. Nerd info: Doom metallers Cathedral used a lot of footage for their “Hopkins (The Witchfinder General)” music video.

The Beyond. 1981. Lucio Fulci. 88 min.
Saturday 08.09.208 13.00/1pm in the Black Stage Room (ground floor Pumpehuset). No admission. No seating.
For many Lucio Fulci is an even greater horror director than his Italian rival Dario Argento, “The Beyond” being one of the major examples of his superior approach to shock cinema. Fulci has stated that the film isn’t supposed to make much sense in a conventional plotwise way, as “The Beyond” is mostly a surreal cosmic gorefest with Lovecraftian touches that borders on avantgarde cinema and is the second film in Fulci’s ‘Gates of Hell’ trilogy along with “City of the Living Dead” and “The House by the Cemetery”. In a Louisiana hotel one of the Seven Doors of Death has opened and all sorts of graphic diabolical terror is unleashed on mankind. Warning: This is an EXTREMELY gory splatterfest as only Fulci could have made. It also features a wonderful creepy synth soundtrack by Fabio Frizzi. This masterpiece isn’t just another horror cult classic, it goes BEYOND that!

Line-up poster announcement!

After 35 days of announcements we will give you some time to off without us harrasing you on a daily basis…  But before we leave you to it, we would like to share with you the line-up poster for the whole event. Artwork done by our very own David “Torturdød” Mikkelsen and layout by the talented Janina Reinhardt.

Feel free to spread around on the internet. Physical copies will be available for free at the fest as long as in stock.

Announcement #35: INCANTATION (us)!!!

We are down to the final announcement and this is one we have been looking forward to share with you. Since the very beginning they have been on our top want list over bands we really wanted to get on the festival, but for 8 long years we never managed – until now… Being one of the originators of death metal and been around without any form of compromise since 1989; its with great pleasure that we can announce that INCANTATION will be performing this years KTDF!!!

A megalith of the death metal underground whose New York scene association, aside the pioneers of the genre, head into a new chapter. Ever precise to their origins the band has witnessed and experienced the ebb and flow of the scene they helped create.

Whether due to giving their support by providing some their first tour experience. Or having that equaled playing with such an array of musicians and bands in and outside the confines of the band. With 10 studio albums, videos even a TV commercial. Numerous releases being in the form of demo cassettes, 7 inches, LP, CD dedication still holds true with tireless effort. Hall of Fame, Top 10 lists honoring their discography through publications, internet and radio.

Having gathered supporters and fans all along the 25 year journey. Circles devoted to all/specific eras or an audience’s first encounter. Incantation has crushed venues, festivals, and clubs with their rabid attendance. From North, Central and South America. Canada, Europe, Scandinavia, Australia or Japan all have welcomed the inferno that scorched their lands.

For a quarter century now they’ve been creating blasphemous death metal and still their indulgence is eternal…….. Under the Ibex Moon!
