Announcement #28: debut show of HYPERDONTIA (TR/DK)!

Some things come out of friendship and the project we are about to announce is something that has formed during past editions of KTDF and later on turned into a recording project. While never having been in the same room the band has recorded the different elements in Turkey and Denmark and released a 7” with their combined efforts. We are excited to announce that HYPERDONTIA will play their debut show at KTDF 2018!

Hyperdontia is a Turkish/Danish project with members of Burial Invocation, Engulfed, Undergang and Phrenelith. Combined Hyperdontia shows a face of their own with a slightly different breed of death metal than shown in their other bands. The band came into being when Mustafa (guitars) and Malik (bass) asked David (vocals) to help doing vocals for some songs that Mustafa was doing on his own on the side of his other bands and instead of having a drum machine for rhythm section Tuna (drums) was asked to help out. Recording guitars and bass in Istanbul and drums and vocals in Copenhagen, their debut release “Abhorrence Veil” was finished in 2016 and finally released on 7” and MC in 2017 and got well received in the metal underground. A debut album is currently being recorded and will be released sometime in 2018. So join this September’s celebration of death metal and check out what this Turkish/Danish collaboration has to offer.

Announcement #27: SEMPTERNAL DUSK (us) for the first time ever in Europe!

Tonight we have another “first time in Europe band” coming your way… This time we are bringing you a band that will crush your last day at KTDF on the “Gloomy Sunday”. The band we are about to announce are as heavy, downtuned and primitive as it gets and features members of prominent bands such as of Weregoat, Aldebaran, Mournful Congregation, Anhedonist and Nighfell. We are very excited to present to you, all the way from Portland, Oregon, the mighty SEMPTERNAL DUSK!!!

Formed in 2011 by JH and TC after the demise of thier previous band, The Warwolves. ‘Demo MMXII’ was recorded as a two-piece and released in 2012, catching the attention of Dark Descent Records. In 2013 AW and TG joined on guitar and bass to flesh out the line-up for live performances and to begin writing a full length. Debuting this lineup at the Dark Descent Records showcase in Portland the same year.
2014 saw the release of the self-titled full length via Dark Descent Records followed by a string of live performances up and down the West Coast with Larvae.

In 2015 guitarist AW left and was replaced by VB formerly of Anhedonist. The band then began working on new material for a string of splits and eps to be released the next year as well as playing Covenant Fest II in Vancouver B.C., a string of dates with Spectral Voice and Blood Incantation and the ‘Darkness over the West’ tour supporting Mgla and Weregoat.

In 2017 split releases with Encoffination and Bloody Master manifested the first recordings of the current line-up. Sempiternal Dusk is currently headed into Autopsy Room studios in February to record their second full length to be released on Dark Descent Records in late 2018. They have shared the stage with a number of ungodly bands over the last few years including Incantation, Asphyx, Demilich, Mgla, Funebrarum, Hooded Menace and Revenge.

Announcement #26: MORTIFERUM (us) for the first time ever in Europe!

Like flies on a festering corpse, we once again cover the line-up for KTDF 2018 with another young US death metal band and this time we’re dripping in excitement to announce the crawling heavy death metal band MORTIFERUM for the first time ever in Europe!

Hailing from Olympia WA, Mortiferum was formed by Max Bowman (guitars, vocals), Chase Slaker (guitars), and Alex Mody (drums, vocals). Their various bands (Bone Sickness, Ēōs) had played shows together regularly in the local scene as the members shared a mutual interest in Finnish and American death metal, and had a similar vision for the music they wanted to play. In 2016, after several failed attempts to get a band going, the members got together and wrote the songs that became the first demo “Altar of Decay”. They enlisted the help of Dan Fried (Triumvir Foul, Anhedonist) to fill in on bass, and recorded “Altar of Decay” in Mody’s garage. Tracking guitars and drums live in their own space, with part-time keyboard player Ethan Camp as the engineer, Mortiferum were able to capture the songs in their most visceral form. The demo was released by the band themselves and furthermore assisted by an LP release from Profound Lore Records and on cassette by Graceless Records in the US and Extremely Rotten Productions in Europe. During the band’s short existence, Mortiferum have already had the privilege of playing with such luminaries as Asphyx, Phrenelith,  Blood Incantation, Qrixkuor, Triumvir Foul, and many more. The band have recently announced the addition of full-time bassist, Tony Wolfe and are currently on an 18 date West Coast tour with the also KTDF relevant band Fetid from Seattle.

Mortiferum is currently writing their debut full-length to be released on Profound Lore in the impending future.

Mortiferum will perform during the “Gloomy Sunday” on KTDF and lead us all into the “Blood Chasm”: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G4d6K0W8A0

Announcement #25: MEFITIC (it)!

Our next announcement will leave you in total darkness and despair, serving as the only Italian band on the festival, we are disgustingly delighted to present to you for the first time in the Nordic lands the cavernous horde of MEFITIC!

The birth of Mefitic dates back to 2004. During nearly ten years of activity, Mefitic have released a collection of demos and splits, lurking in the underground with a few carefully curated live appearances. Nearly six years after the release of their last demo “Signing the Servants of God”, Mefitic emerged from light into utter darkness with the album “Woes of Mortal Devotion”, released under the banner of Nuclear War Now! Productions in 2015. The band has since played few but carefully selected shows, each time succeeding in creating a suffocating atmosphere.

The sonic dimension of Mefitic combines different aspects of death metal that successfully infuse black and doom elements into their own personal anguishing sound. Presenting sharp dissonant, and at times hypnotic riffs that align expertly with a pulsating thundering bass and death rattling vocals – all bringing an aura of despondency and a eternity of raw violent darkness to the stage.

Announcement #24: Deiquisitor (dk)

We’re happy to offer the highest amount of Danish bands ever to play at KTDF in 2018! We have yet another proof of something wicked going on in the Danish underground for you and this time we’re bringing forth the Mid-Zealand based death metal trio DEIQUISITOR!

Deiquisitor was formed in 2013 by Henrik B.C. and Thomas F.J. They have both played in a several extreme metal bands for more than 20 years such as Fallen Angel, Dominus, Legion, Blodfest, Sadomator and many more and with Deiquisitor they have sought back to their roots in death metal musically through the last few years. Their take on death metal is fast-paced and aggressive, very influenced by the sound and style of the early 90’s bands. The lyrical themes are about topics such as occult science, ancient mysteries and apocalyptic theories. The band started as a duo, but was joined by an ally through many years; Daniel A., on bass in 2014 and they could then start playing live shows too. They have since then released their self-titled debut album in 2015 through fellow Danish death merchants Ancient Darkness Productions and Night Shroud Records and an EP through Me Saco Un Ojo Records in 2016. They’ve done a few shorter trips out in Europe with Kill-Towns Undergang plus a couple of Danish shows with Finnish Galvanizer and have last year finished the recording of their follow-up album “Downfall of the Apostates”, which will see its release in the late winter/early spring of 2018 through Dark Descent Records and Night Shroud Records.

We’re happy to present this Danish death metal brutality in September, but don’t wait till then to check them out, let Deiquisitor bring back the ancient alien gods and deliver their proof of existence in the shape of the “Elongated Crystal Skull”: www.youtube.com/watch?v=v46hHMpVszY

Announcement # 23: first european show ever of FETID (us)!!

Yet again a return to the promised focus on the current US underground scene and this time we travel to the infamous city of Seattle, Washington, who in recent years have regurgitated many young promising death metal acts and this is amongst our favorites of recent years; we are excited to present to you for the first time ever in Europe, the reeking fresh corpse of FETID!

Fetid came to being in 2016 with the name change from the dissolved cadaver of Of Corpse, a band two thirds of the members played in from 2013 leading up to the formation of Fetid. In a lot of ways Of Corpse was the beginning of what we hear in Fetid today. Where Of Corpse were heavier (or should we say faster) on the grind side of extreme metal, Fetid delves deeper into absolute gut-wrenching and bowel-extracting death metal heaviness. The duo was joined by Chelsea on bass, who also plays in Seattle death grind band Cauterized, after the name change and started playing local shows and arranged to record a demo.

In 2017 the band released their debut demo suitably entitled “Sentient Pile of Amorphous Rot”, though Headsplit Records and later in the year Extremely Rotten Productions, a showcase of the bands undeniably disgusting and brutally heavy grinding death metal with ultra low tuning and vile deep growls. Rumor has it that Fetid are scheduled to record and release an LP for US Northwest extreme music label 20 Buck Spin this year.

The “Sentient Pile of Amorphous Rot” demo was received extremely well across both the US and Europe and we behind KTDF are repulsively excited about presenting them for the first time in The Old World in September 2018, when Fetid spills their grotesque audio infection in Pumpehuset!

Announcement #22: DEAD VOID (uk/dk)!

We have taken on a few demo bands over the years because we see their potential –the same goes with the band we are about to announce tonight. Consisting of three expatriates living in Copenhagen – all with backgrounds in various prominent bands – this new project have already played 2 shows abroad, but still no shows in Copenhagen. We wanna keep the level up for them, so we have invited them to play our new outdoor stage in “Byhaven” to warm you guys up straight from the afternoon on our “Gloomy Sunday”! We are excited to present to you DEAD VOID!!

Former members of Grave Miasma, Conan and Virus met in the pubs of Copenhagen and fell together to create a Non-Ritualistic Death Metal power trio. They played their first gig in Bucharest in April 2017 with Czech legends Root, and second live appearance at The Abyss Underground Festival in Gothenburg alongside bands like Nifelheim, Ram, Necromantheon and many others. They released their first official demo ‘The Looming Spectre’ with 4 songs in January 2018, which was immediately sold out due to high demand. More are being made as we speak.

Think Cianide playing Candlemass riffs in Goatlord’s rehearsal basement. No rituals. No trends. Just dark, twisted and fucking heavy Death Metal.

Announcement #21: CADAVERIC INCUBATOR (fin)!

We return to present more corpses for the mass grave that will be KTDF 2018. This time we are bringing down more depravity from the northern part of Scandinavia in the form of some Finnish exhumers who happened to have released one of the most vile and disgusting death grind releases of 2017. Therefor we’re happy to present CADAVERIC INCUBATOR on the stage of our Resurrection!

Cadaveric Incubator was formed in 2005 by Necroterror (bass/vocals) and Humiliator (guitar/vocals) with the help of various drummers who came and went during the bands first incarnation which lasted around two years. The aim was to create old school disgusting sounds influenced by early Carcass, Repulsion, Autopsy, Xysma, Mortician, Blood and more vile and gory grinding death metal acts of death metal’s youth. But after two demos – of which only the first one “Resurgence of Morbidity” was released – and countless live shows, the band split up in early 2007 due to personal problems between the members.

Seven years later, in 2014, Necroterror resurrected Cadaveric Incubator by teaming up with his old comrade Pentele, who he had know from the early 90’s scene – Back in the deep Finnish backwoods when Necroterror played in his first-ever death metal band, Excrement, and Pentele was drumming for Carnifex and Festerday in the same area. Original founding member Humiliator was asked to join as well and the new demo “Unburied Abominations“ was recorded. After several brutal live shows and a demo compilation released by Terror from Hell Records, the band finally recorded 12 tracks in early 2016 for their debut album, “Sermons of the Devouring Dead”, that was released by Hell’s Headbangers Records in 2017. The band has played in Finland and Russia, but this will be the first time they venture a bit down south of Finland.

Announcement #20: ANTIVERSUM (ch)!

Tonight we are presenting the only Swiss band that KTDF will be hosting this year. With just one demo behind them and a fresh full-length out on Invictus Productions, this Swiss 5 piece plays a hybrid version of death metal – incorporating elements of doom and black metal in the veins of fellow Zürich bands like Bölzer and Deathcult, but still with their own unique style and blend. We are excited to present to you the anti-cosmic entity known as ANTIVERSUM!

Formed in 2010 by dedicated and experienced musicians in the Swiss metal scene, Antiversum is an utterly nihilistic entity, which creates a disturbing, oppressing and storming amalgamation of black, doom, and death metal, manifesting the end of the universe, the dawn of nothingness and the collapse of existence itself in audial waves. Completely detached from every concept of spirituality, religion and other humanistic views, Antiversum began its journey into the void in the spring of 2015, when Invictus Productions released the band’s debut demo, “Total Vacuum”, to international acclaim. After an appearance on a 6-way Split, alongside other Swiss Extreme Metal names such as i.e. Deathcult and Bölzer, Antiversum would further stretch spaces in between the Void with their idiosyncratic vortex of violence, in their first debut Album, “Cosmos Comedenti”, released in 2017 again by Invictus Productions.

Announcement #19: SCOLEX (us)!

Tonight we turn our focus towards the States one more time for another band that has been around in various constellations but still never made it over to this side of the pond. After a small hiatus the band we are about to announce is back with a stronger line-up than ever and ready to conquer Europe with a one-off exclusive show at KTDF!!! We are very stoked to present to you the first and for now only Euro appearance of SCOLEX!!!

Formed in Oakland, CA in 2010 by drummer/vocalist Justin Green and bassist/vocalist Erika Osterhout. Handling guitar duties themselves (with guest appearances from Danny Corralles of AUTOPSY, the duo recorded four tracks of doomy, punk-influenced death metal in late 2011, and released “Torn From Beyond” as a 12″ mini-LP on Osterhout’s own label Lunar Tomb Records. With a live lineup in place they did several mini-tours in 2012 and 2013 with bands like Necrot and Undergang. In July 2013 they opened for Autopsy’s first and only show ever in Seattle, WA, which lead to Eric Cutler replacing both guitarists in 2014 for a few shows including one with Undergang and Trepanation. Shortly afterwards the band went on hiatus but the members kept busy with other projects like Femacoffin, Extraction and Necrosic. In 2018 Scolex returned with a new lineup of guitarists Sonny Reinhardt (Necrot, Saviours) and Paul Riedl (Spectral Voice, Blood Incantation) for another West Coast tour with Acephalix, Mortiferum and Fetid, sharing the stage with Mortuous, Hell, Skeletal Remains and more. With an exclusive European appearance at Kill-Town Death Fest this September and an impending split 7″ with Mortuous on Carbonized Records, Scolex is back and heavier than ever.
